RCTSFA is delighted to confirm that Chris Copp has been appointed to the Committee as our new Head of Boys football.
Chris has a long history in local football, having represented both Cwm Welfare and AFC Rhondda during his playing days. Some time after his retirement from playing, Chris embarked on his coaching journey in 2019 at Graig FC Pontypridd, his club to this day.
Chris has an exceptional level of relevant experience at Graig FC and has been coaching the development age groups U6 - to the current U10’s boys for the last 5 years and he also coached the U19s last season and leaned in where needed with senior teams. At Graig FC, Chris has held an impressive range of roles including, Lead coach U6/7/8/9/U19s, Club Safeguarding Officer and Club Coaching Coordinator.
Chris currently holds the pre-requisite coaching qualifications of FAW Leaders , FAW First Aid Awareness, FAW Safeguarding, FAW Certificate, FAW/UEFA C Licence and he has ambitions to add a B licence in due course.
On accepting the new role, Chris commented "I will be looking forward to making a positive impact on the development of our young players within the RTCFA structure and to help develop the next generation of county footballers. This is an exciting time to be joining the committee of such an expanding and forward-looking organisation."
Ceri Jones, the Chairman of RCTSFA, warmly welcomed the new appointment, "Chris has a tremendous pedigree in grassroots football, including in a range of leadership roles at a large club. I'm delighted to have Chris on board and I have no doubt he will play a critical role in the continued growth and development of our boys football pathway.
