"I am extremely excited to take on the role of Head of Development. I'm fully committed to expanding the development pathway across the county"

Updated: Mar 8

The Association is delighted to announce that Ms Nichola Scorey of Caegarw Primary School has joined our Committee as the newly created officer position of the Head of the Development Pathway.

Welcoming Ms Scorey to the Association, our Chair, Ceri Jones, hailed the appointment as a key milestone for RCTSFA, "Over the previous 12 months we have entered our third growth phase as an Association with the introduction of our new Development pathway. At the midpoint of the previous decade we organically grew our boys county pathway, and then in around 2017 we created our girls county pathway which allowed us to make a leap from having no girls playing in our Association to now having around 150. With the more recent introduction of the Development pathway (players age 7-10yrs) we now have 350 players, a growth in our player base of around 500% in 7 years. So it is vital that our committee has the right leadership to help us manage this enormous growth, and I've no doubt that in Nichola we have made an outstanding appointment, a teaching professional and a passionate football coach and leader. At this point I should acknowledge and thank our Finance Officer, Jamie Jenkins, who has led the formation and growth of the Development pathway up to this point."

Ms Scorey is keen to get started and set out her ambitions for the new role, "I've been a teacher for 18 years. I currently work at Caegarw Primary School where I have been teaching for 5 years. I am extremely passionate about promoting health & wellbeing and have been involved with after school clubs and supporting school teams by taking them to tournaments and festivals. In addition to my teaching role at Caegarw, I also coach Abernant Primary School football team who have successfully participated in local and regional competitions. My grassroots club is AFC Penrhiwceiber where I am the Mini's & Juniors representative and have been a committee member for 2 years. I am extremely excited to take on the role of Head of Development. I'm fully committed to expanding the development pathway across the county and offering opportunities to all children to enhance their football abilities at an individual and team level. I'm looking forward to working in partnership with schools, clubs and counties in Wales and to building a strong and supported foundation for all our young players in RCT."
