The Assocation is devastated to learn the news of the untimely passing of Chris Davies.
Chris was a hugely valued and respected member of our organisation and his passing has left us with an immense feeling of devastation.
Chris, our U16Bs Head Coach, joined the Association back in 2016 and has led with distinction the current 16s squad throughout their entire journey from U11s - this in itself is a great testament to Chris' dedication, commitment and passion for his players and our Association.
Chris was much more than a coach; he was a mentor, leader and an inspirational member of the RCT football community. Brimming with enthusiasm, creativity, motivation and energy, Chris led his squad with purpose and ambition and always travelled the extra mile on behalf of his players and the wider Association.
Chris achieved remarkable success on and off the pitch. His team marginally missed out on a National final in 2019 having lost narrowly to eventual winners Knowsley & St Helens SFA in the semi finals - that achievement marked a rapid period of progress and development that Chris had delivered with his squad as a consequence of his exceptional leadership and tactical qualities. Had the pandemic not intervened, there is no doubt that his squad would have continued to achieve enormous success.
The success that Chris had delivered at County level had not gone unnoticed; and it was no surprise when the WSFA invited him, not once, but twice, to join the National squad as a member of its coaching team. Chris was part of the WSFA U14Bs National Squad in 2019/20 and again during this current season.
Chris will leave a huge gap in our Association and we know that for the staff, players and parents this will be challenging time.
Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences are with Emily, Ameila and all of Chris' family and friends. The Association will, in due course, find a fitting tribute to recognise Chris' long-standing contribution and legacy to the activities and success of RCTSFA.
RIP Chris, your contribution will forever be cherished and never forgotten.
